HK became a port of first asylum in the late 1970s after the end of the Vietnam War. By the '80s HK was home to more than 100,000 Vietnamese here. The last remaining refugee facility was recently torn down. For those who grew up there, the memories are still vivid. For others who became citizens of Western countries, their offspring are now finding opportunities in Vietnam.
